Vocational Studies

Vocational Studies

Subjects taught in Vocational Studies are relevant to the industry of that subject. It allows all students to be able to gain a knowledge and understanding of that vocational area to be able to continue into further education.

The qualifications are graded at level 1 and level 2 Pass, Merit and Distinction every student will start on level 2, but have the security net of level 1.

The courses do vary in assessment but all have an internal assessment (course work) and external assessment (exam). There is one exam for each of the subjects with a re-sit option.

Most of the vocational subjects have a practical element as well as theory. The school is fortunate to have its own hair and beauty salon and the sports award will use the sports facilities within school and our local gym facilities. The business and enterprise will create their own small businesses and have the chance to hold enterprise days/evenings to sell their products and services. The qualification also invites guest speakers in from the local area and makes full advantage of the careers and employers fayre the school organises annually.
