As the headteacher of St Peter’s School, I am proud of our students’ achievements who, supported by their parents and guided by our staff, have achieved the highest possible grade across a broad range of subjects. This year students have continued to demonstrate both their academic and personal development through attaining the grades necessary to secure places at prestigious universities such as Durham, Birmingham, Loughborough, York and Nottingham.
Overall St Peter’s is celebrating its post 16 results particularly in English Language (50 % A*-B), Mathematics (54% A*-B), Physics (66% A*-B), History (54% A*-B), Information Technology (96% A*-B), Physical Education (80% A*-B) and Performing Arts (100% A*-B). Two students achieved particularly outstanding results A* (English Language), A (Maths), A (Physics), B (Computing) and A (English Language), A (Sociology), B (History). These outcomes are a superb reflection of the improvement in the examination results, for example 46% of students achieved A*-B which is an improvement on the 2016 results with 28% of students gaining A*-A.
Results for Vocational qualifications (Applied General) have continued last year’s record breaking achievement. This is highlighted by 93% achieving Distinction Star (the highest grade) which is significantly above the national average. This has allowed students to secure Level 3 Apprenticeships with local employers who will support students to achieve degree level qualifications in the future.
The success of students demonstrates the improvements being made at St Peter’s which are supporting our students to attain higher qualifications, giving them greater opportunities for the rest of their lives.
