Autism Awareness Week 12th April 2016

From the 12th April we will be having an Autism Awareness week.  We know that indifference, intolerance and hostility towards autistic people and their families leads to extreme social isolation, mental illness and profoundly unhappy lives.

From the 12th April we will be having an Autism Awareness week.  We know that indifference, intolerance and hostility towards autistic people and their families leads to extreme social isolation, mental illness and profoundly unhappy lives.

But, we also know that helping young people – as well as teachers – to understand autism as they grow up will equip a new generation with the knowledge to accept and empathise with autistic people.

The week will involve learning about autism during tutor times through discussions, videos and activities. The resources we will using can be found on The National Autistic Society’s website: http://www.autism.org.uk/get-involved/world-autism-awareness-week/schools-autism-awareness-week.aspx.
